Faith Over Fear
What is Faith? What does it mean to you? How do you apply it in your day to day life? Is there a difference between Faith and belief? Is it possible to believe in God but not have Faith in Him? Faith is defined as “complete trust or confidence in someone or something. A strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.” Meanwhile belief is defined as “an acceptance that a statement is true or that something exists. Trust, faith, or confidence in someone or something.” Based on the definitions provided, we see that there is a clear and distinct difference between the two words. One requires acceptance, and the other trust. Before we can exercise Faith in God and claim His promises, we first have to believe in Him and accept His word as truth.
Today, from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM, we will be Praying for Faith. We will be asking God to teach us the difference between Faith and Belief. We often times confuse the two, assuming that our belief in God is sufficient. Think of belief as the appetizer and Faith as the entre. Belief in God, and His power is the first step. We are not to stop there. Faith is an action word and requires work. It is a daily challenge to blindly trust a God you cannot see knowing that he will deliver and answer your prayers. Every day, we have to apply faith at work, in our finances, in our families and in ministry. It is our faith in God that makes us whole, completes us, pushes us closer to Him and His throne. Faith allows us to accept Christ’s death on the cross, and to live a righteous life. Belief in God isn’t enough, we need Faith. If the devil can have faith that God will always redeem His children – leading him to attack us incessantly – how much more does God expect from us when it comes to applying our Faith.
