“Deep Cleaning” Fasting & Prayer Day

Deep Cleaning

MYGEN Church
Deep Cleaning Prayer Fast

The daily maintenance of our home? is important.  However, every so often a deep cleaning is needed: we change the curtains, rearrange the furniture, and throw out what isn’t needed.?️  If it can be scrubbed, swept and mopped, we do so. This is not an overnight process, and can often take weeks ? to properly accomplish.  Depending on the size of the space or the intensity of the mess, we may ask for help.  We tend to do our big cleaning before company arrives, before major holidays, and when we’re bored with our surroundings.  The process is tedious and frustrating, but when it is all done, it is so worth it.

For the next 24 hours, from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM, we will be asking God to do major cleaning in our hearts.  Our thoughts, words and deeds all flow from the treasury of our heart. ❤️ If there is sin buried deep, no matter how many masks we wear, our true selves will be revealed eventually. The devil will have us believe that there is no need to address certain issues, if no one else knows they exist. Transgressions and secret sins that are rooted deep in the heart kills us slowly, makes us restless, and haunts us daily until we confess.

God will pick up and remove the lusts of the flesh.  He will examine our hearts, and remove any traits that don’t reflect Him.  This honesty and transparency allows God to come into our hearts and have His way.  The uncomfortability comes when God starts to remove what we have been holding on to for years.  What makes us uncomfortable is that He starts cutting at the roots of our bad habits.  This causes us to argue and fuss with God, as we tell Him what we want to hold on to and want we want Him to take. We give Him our hearts with limitations.

Pray for yourself.

  • Post on your social media:
Today, I am allowing God to deep clean my heart by removing what doesn’t belong and replacing it with Him.
  • Open your heart, and allow God to inspect every crevice and corner.
  • Be honest with the skeletons you have hidden in your heart.
  • Allow God to use Godly friends to help you clean your heart
  • Understand that this is the beginning of a long and uncomfortable process. The more you grow, the more God will deep clean your heart.
  • Let the past go. When God starts throwing stuff out, let Him.

Do Not

  • Allow the devil to think that the mess in your heart is OK or normal. It’s Not!!
  • Get in the way of your Heart Surgery. Do not hold on to what God is trying to remove. You don’t need it. If He is removing it, then it is costing you your salvation, mental health, and sanity.
  • Allow your friends, family, and co-workers to justify your mess. If you have people in your camp that supports you holding on to what make you Spiritually Sick, re-evaluate your camp.
  • Think this cleaning is temporary. It is a life changing, permanent solution to your everyday issues.
  • Justify your skeletons by comparing them to someone else’s. Compare your skeletons to God’s Word.

Verses for Meditation

Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.2 Corinthians 7:1
What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.Mark 7:20-23
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You.Psalm 51:10-12
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-mindedJames 4:7-8
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.1 John 1:7
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.Titus 2:14
About the Author

Hannah Love

While I am a born and raised Seventh-day Adventist (I was baptized at the age of 8, and then again at 21), I am not a product of Adventist Education. As a matter of fact, it is my public school education, both at DeWitt Clinton HS, and the University at Albany that has strengthened my relationship with. High School reignited my love for singing in choirs, and led me to join the Angelic Voices of Praise, the only gospel choir on campus. It was at corporate prayer before choir rehearsal one Thursday evening in Albany that my prayer life was brought under a microscope. You see, up until that point, I was praying these little Baby Prayers, the Patty Cake Prayers, the rehearsed Prayers, the One Liners. There wasn’t any conviction, and it almost appeared that I was afraid to talk to God in a very real way. That night a seasoned member saw something that I didn’t see in myself, and because she allowed the Holy Spirit to use her, took me to the back of the LC during corporate prayer and taught me how to pray. I mean Really Pray! That night not only changed my life, but changed my Prayer Life forever. My prayer life translated well as I served as a Pathfinder Leader and an Assistant AY Leader and Praise and Worship leader. It was my constant communication with God that allowed Him to use me to lead Teens and Young Adult closer to God, and many more into Praise and Worship. While I understand that our life experiences have differed, I believe that our God is the same. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is the God that desires to have a deeper communication with us, who longs to chat with us, and craves quiet moments that we can offer as sacrifice to Him Do not for a moment think that I am perfect. In fact I am far from it. I mess up and mistakes, but my relationship with God is just as real as this letter you are reading. It is my relationship, and my prayer life, that restores me each and every time I fall. It is my prayer life with God that has allowed Him to use me for His work, and the furtherance of His Gospel! I charge each and everyone of you to explore a genuine and real relationship with God! Sit at His feet, talk to Him, worship him, Praise Him! Ask God to show Himself to you in a very “You Specific Way” Just in case you don’t know where to start, I encourage each and everyone of you who are able to join in with us on our Weekly Prayer and Fasts that meet each Wednesday. It is in these Fasts, that God reveals our character flaws to us, in hopes of not only correcting our Spiritual Cancers that seek to draw us away from God’s divine love, but pull us closer to the feet of Jesus! I pray that each and everyone of you experience God in a very real and “You Specific Way”. I Love you and God Loves you more!
