It’s easy to pray for you: to ask God for what you need, want and desire. It’s easy to ask Him to fix this issue in your life, to give you a character like God’s and even in some extreme cases, ask for a new heart altogether. It’s easy to praise and worship Him, ask for forgiveness, confess your sins, pray for your job, a new car, etc., BUT when was the last time you prayed for someone else? Not because they asked you to (and because of life, you forgot to) but because you intentionally purposed in your heart to bring someone else’s name, their issues, their problems, their concerns, before the feet of Jesus? When was the last time you interceded on behalf of someone you didn’t particularly care for?
Today from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM, we will be fasting from praying for ourselves and instead focus on interceding for others. As Christians, we are called to be selfless and to put the needs of others before ourselves, to reflect a Christ-like attitude. When Christ was on earth, He spent much of His time caring about the needs of others, talking to His Father about us, bringing us to His Father’s feet and asking God for the best ways to minister to His brothers and sisters, God’s children.
Fast from asking for yourself

Verses for Meditation
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints…Ephesians 6:18
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.1 Timothy 2: 1-5
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians 2:3-4
