MYGEN Church "Who's Your Leader?" Fasting & Prayer Day

MYGEN Church
Leadership Fast

The America many of us migrated to, or were born and raised in, is not the America we live in today. Everyday we are witness to acts of senseless violence, massacres that have almost become the norm, hatred and racism that seems to run rampant through the veins of those who were once family, friends and co-workers. We are living in an America where we are all struggling to survive. It’s easy to get frustrated, angry and irritated with everything going on; it may seem difficult to go to God, some have even come to blame Him.

For the next 24 hours, from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. we will be praying for America, our country’s leader, President Donald Trump, as well as the country’s political leaders (Congress and Senate). We will also lift up the world leaders who are in direct communication with The President. Finally, we will be praying for the countries and states impacted by natural disasters, as well as US cities negatively affected by gun violence. Instead of allowing the current events of the world to weigh on your mind and attempt to steal your peace and joy, we are redirecting our thoughts to focus on the Faith and courage that our Heavenly Father has called us to exemplify.

Pray for our government leaders

To DO

  • Post on your social media:
Today I will be praying for our President, Country, World Leaders, and countries affected by natural disasters, gun violence and acts of terrorism.
  • Lift up the world leaders who are in conflict with one another: Russia, Korea, America, etc.
  • Lift up the countries who have been devastated by natural disasters who are struggling to find relief: Barbuda, Dominica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, etc.
  • Pray for those who still haven’t heard from family members who have been affected by natural disasters.
  • Lift up President Donald Trump by name: while we may not understand why God does the things He does, we still have to trust that His hand is in the midst of it all and the King of Kings is still in control.
  • Pray for America, Members of congress, Senate, House of Representatives, Police Officers, etc.

Do Not

  • Speak negatively or support negative talk about President Trump, no matter how hard this may/will be. When family, friends, or associates begin to bash the President, ask them if they have prayed for the President today. If you are unable to engage in this type of conversation without it turning hostile, then simply do not be a part of it.
  • Address the President using negative connotations or comparing Trump to other presidents. Regardless of our own perspectives on these political stances, we have to be objective about the current status of our nation and not subjective. Comparisons and disrespect aren’t going to fix what’s broken.
  • Display any negative emotions and feelings you have towards President Trump, terrorists, or hate groups. Instead we are going to lift them up in prayer so that God can fight the spiritual battles going on within these individuals. Ask God to grant us the wisdom and discernment to deal with the ignorance and hate that we experience in our lives on a day to day.
  • Only pray for the island or state you originate from. Instead, use today to pray for an island or state that is still devastated by natural disasters or acts of terrorism.
  • Allow the news to distract you from praying for these world leaders and countries that we are lifting in prayer today.

In addition to our corporate prayer at 9 PM, we will pray every hour on the hour.  From 9 AM  to 12 PM, we will pray for our country and President Trump.  From 1 PM to 4 PM we will pray for The World Leaders and their countries who are in direct communication with President Trump. Finally, from 5 PM to 8 PM, we will pray for countries that have been affected by natural disasters and violent acts of terrorism.

All of these prayer calls happen in our Google Hangouts group. If you haven’t joined our Fasting Group on Hangouts you may do so by pressing the button below.

Verses for Meditation

Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.1 Timothy 2:1-2
Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men— as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king.1 Peter 2:13-17
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.Romans 13:1-2
…I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.2 Chronicles 7:12-14
Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth. Serve the Lord with fear, And rejoice with trembling.Psalm 2:10-11
Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
Proverbs 11:14
Then he said to them: “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.”Luke 21:10-11
About the Author

Hannah Love

While I am a born and raised Seventh-day Adventist (I was baptized at the age of 8, and then again at 21), I am not a product of Adventist Education. As a matter of fact, it is my public school education, both at DeWitt Clinton HS, and the University at Albany that has strengthened my relationship with. High School reignited my love for singing in choirs, and led me to join the Angelic Voices of Praise, the only gospel choir on campus. It was at corporate prayer before choir rehearsal one Thursday evening in Albany that my prayer life was brought under a microscope. You see, up until that point, I was praying these little Baby Prayers, the Patty Cake Prayers, the rehearsed Prayers, the One Liners. There wasn’t any conviction, and it almost appeared that I was afraid to talk to God in a very real way. That night a seasoned member saw something that I didn’t see in myself, and because she allowed the Holy Spirit to use her, took me to the back of the LC during corporate prayer and taught me how to pray. I mean Really Pray! That night not only changed my life, but changed my Prayer Life forever. My prayer life translated well as I served as a Pathfinder Leader and an Assistant AY Leader and Praise and Worship leader. It was my constant communication with God that allowed Him to use me to lead Teens and Young Adult closer to God, and many more into Praise and Worship. While I understand that our life experiences have differed, I believe that our God is the same. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is the God that desires to have a deeper communication with us, who longs to chat with us, and craves quiet moments that we can offer as sacrifice to Him Do not for a moment think that I am perfect. In fact I am far from it. I mess up and mistakes, but my relationship with God is just as real as this letter you are reading. It is my relationship, and my prayer life, that restores me each and every time I fall. It is my prayer life with God that has allowed Him to use me for His work, and the furtherance of His Gospel! I charge each and everyone of you to explore a genuine and real relationship with God! Sit at His feet, talk to Him, worship him, Praise Him! Ask God to show Himself to you in a very “You Specific Way” Just in case you don’t know where to start, I encourage each and everyone of you who are able to join in with us on our Weekly Prayer and Fasts that meet each Wednesday. It is in these Fasts, that God reveals our character flaws to us, in hopes of not only correcting our Spiritual Cancers that seek to draw us away from God’s divine love, but pull us closer to the feet of Jesus! I pray that each and everyone of you experience God in a very real and “You Specific Way”. I Love you and God Loves you more!
